Develops her research through
films, drawings, and installations. Her work offers
a critical understanding of the ways human
beings impose systems of order and control
on their surroundings. She holds a PhD from Le
Fresnoy and Université de Lille and discusses
the research behind her trilogy of short filmsCurupira and the Destiny Machine (2021), Spell(2024), and When the Second Sun Arrives / A

Regiane Ishii
Is an
educator and holds a PhD in Audiovisual Studies
(ECA USP). In this presentation, she investigates
how contemporary cinema has responded to
the omnipresence of the internet’s production
and circulation processes. Pixelated images,
wanderings through Google Street View, and
live-streaming platforms increasingly appear
in nonfiction production, reaffirming cinema
as a space where images can be “forced to think.”

Antonio Venancio
Has nearly three decades of work as an archive producer, specializing in
rare Brazilian footage and in copyright and image
rights. He holds a BA in Film and Television from
NY University and has worked in documentaries
such as Metalworkers (2002), The Music According
to Antonio Carlos Jobim (2011), Images of the
Estado Novo 1937-45 (2016, 21st É Tudo Verdade /
It’s All True), and In the Intense Now (2017).

Camilo Tavares
Is a director and screenwriter. He
studied Social Communication at ECA USP and
completed postgraduate studies at the Centro
de Capacitación Cinematográfica in Mexico City.
His films include Un Poquito de Agua (1995, 1stÉ Tudo Verdade / It’s All True). In this encounter,
he discusses the making of The Day that Lasted
21 Years (2012) and The Big Brother (2022)
