It‘s All True
Never before have so many images and sounds been produced—and increasingly, not all of them by humans. For that very reason, documentaries have never been so important.

The work of artists behind the camera (and in the editing room) is both the sensitivity and the safeguard that sustain emotion and ethics within the dizzying pace of audiovisual creation in the 21st century. Knowing who is behind a work, at its source, has never been more crucial. Hence, the vital role of documentary filmmakers.

Today, as always, É Tudo Verdade / It’s All True – International Documentary Film Festival reaffirms its essential commitment to filmmakers and audiences. It offers a unique and magical encounter before the big screen of nonfiction cinema.

The program of the 31st edition once again invites us to discover stories and reflections, private and public, from a past that seeds the present and a present that roots the future. It is a privilege to present this new selection of Brazilian and international documentaries across four competitive sections, honored as Academy Award-qualifying, as well as horsconcours sections.

We extend our deepest thanks to the filmmakers, producers, and technicians who have entrusted us, this year and over the past three decades, with the pleasure and responsibility of these premiere screenings for Brazilian audiences. We are especially honored to celebrate the retrospective of Vivian Ostrovsky’s expanded cinema: cosmopolitan, feminist, and always inventive in form and theme.

É Tudo Verdade / It’s All True wishes to express its deep gratitude to the institutions and partners who once again join forces in support of cinematic diversity and excellence.

We wish everyone a wonderful festival.
