Some films do not merely record the world; they actively take part in writing its history. Documentary, when it finds consistent channels for circulation, becomes both a reference point for the historical record and a critical lens, serving as one of the creative pillars of the audiovisual field. In this context, festivals play an important role, sharpening new sensibilities and legitimizing works and filmmakers in the eyes of audiences and critics.

As É Tudo Verdade / It’s All True reaches its 31st edition, the festival has become a vital space where screening and reflection meet. By revisiting artistic trajectories and recovering works that are often forgotten, the event helps inscribe filmmakers and significant productions into the country’s cultural memory, broadening our understanding of Brazil’s cinematic heritage. Through the retrospective program and its catalogues, the event further contributes to the preservation of filmmakers’ bodies of work, widening access and encouraging new ways of engaging with reality.

For Sesc, participating in this network means reaffirming its socio-educational mission and enabling artistic expressions to engage in dialogue with time and history. By hosting the festival, the institution renews its commitment to a plurality of perspectives and the circulation of knowledge. Facilitating access to cultural works and goods is, ultimately, promoting individual autonomy and the exercise of citizenship.
