Fordlândia Panacea is a film about the present and past of Fordlândia, the company town founded by Henry Ford in the Amazon rainforest in 1928. Drawing on recent discoveries in the area—Indigenous archaeological findings, some dating back to pre-Columbian civilizations—the documentary traces the forces that have entangled the town over the past decades, locking it into familiar labels: utopian city and ghost town. At the same time, it shows how residents push back against these epithets, practicing acts of healing for a land threatened by forgetting and extractivism.
