Operation 115 was the name given by DOI-Codi (an Army repression unit during the military dictatorship) to a supposed “surveillance” operation in Rio de Janeiro at a Workers’ Day concert at Riocentro on May 1, 1981. In fact, it was a bomb attack, ultimately thwarted, intended to sabotage Brazil’s redemocratization. For the first time, one of the members of the terrorist cell, former police officer Claudio Guerra, recounts in detail how the operation was planned and carried out. Recent findings by the Comissão Nacional da Verdade (National Truth Commission) also shed new light on the episode and on the repeated attempts to investigate it over more than three decades.
