In real life, we don‘t instantly jump from one point of view to another. Such an abrupt interruption would be nauseating. And yet film watchers effortlessly understand or don‘t even notice most cuts. This raised the suspicion that montage exploits some universal characteristics of human perception. A budding researcher – with a group of people who had never seen a film in remote Turkish mountains – put this idea to the test.
