Ana Paula and Mariana lead parallel lives as correctional officers, far from their roots and the people they love. Mariana dreams of a transfer that could advance her career and her life, while Ana Paula longs to return to São Paulo and the pull of the metropolis. Long, exhausting days inside the prisons make decisions about the future harder and harder. At Christmastime, emotions intensify, both in the incarcerated women’s dream of freedom and in the officers’ own desire for a sense of belonging. When everything seems lost, who can they trust?
