Originally built as a forced labor camp in Southwest China during the Cultural Revolution, the “Fruit Farm” region—a remote, mountainous area—is Nana’s birthplace. Her father was one of the prisoners who constructed the town that later became a prison and a rehabilitation center. The echoes of history continue to shape the present.
