Created in 1996, It‘s All True Film Festival aggravated a change in the way documentaries were seen in Brazil, creating in the public a habit of watching this cinematographic classification in theaters.

In making a committee with the best of Brazilian production, the festival highlights stories that marked the epoch, such as “Titãs - A Vida Até Parece uma Festa”, by Branco Mello and Oscar Rodrigues Alves (2008); “Elena”, by Petra Costa (2013); “Uma Noite em 67” (2010) and “Eu Sou Carlos Imperial” (2016), both directed by Ricardo Calil and Renato Terra. And these are just a few examples of a production that becomes better and more diverse every year.

For this reason, it became evident that watching documentaries was not just for beginners. Works by distinguished directors such as Eduardo Coutinho are exhibited alongside rarities and new directors who emerge from all regions of the country, reaching all audiences.

The marathon with the best documentary productions from Brazil and the world is back in April and São Paulo Municipal Department of Culture with Spcine continue to be part of the history of this festival that mobilizes moviegoers and filmmakers wherever it goes, access to free programming with premieres, competitive shows and debates.

Since 2016, with the creation of Spcine Cinema Circuit, the partnership between public power and It’s All True has reached another level. In addition to direct support to the event, Spcine provided the opportunity for the  films to win other screens and delight other audiences. Spcine Cinema Circuit, with its network of 20 exhibition spaces, is the largest public cinema complex in Brazil and is present in all regions of São Paulo, especially in neighbourhoods where the commercial cinema is offer uncommon.

Our desire is a long life to the partnership between It‘s All True and the Municipal Department of Culture, through Spcine, to continue strengthening year by year and encouraging the public to live new experiences.
