GOVERNO DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULO

Welcome to another It’s All True festival, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2020. This is a celebration of the power and quality of documentary cinema.

The State Government of São Paulo has the honor of supporting It’s All True through the sponsorship provided by Sabesp and the support from the Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy, thereby recognizing and valuing its enormous contribution to the human, economic and social development of the state.

In São Paulo, culture, its professionals and the cultural policy are all valued and respected. Last year, the State Government made a total investment in the area of R$ 1.2 billion. This is just one of the numerous demonstrations of support that Governor João Doria and his team have shown to art, culture and the creative economy. We have created cultural facilities, strengthened promotion, reduced the bureaucracy, and supported new partnerships to encourage development of the sector and increase the generation of revenue, employment and inclusion in São Paulo.

Amongst other initiatives, we have brought in R$ 165 million in private sponsorships for the refurbishment of the new Ipiranga Museum. We have conducted the restoration on the Museum of the Portuguese Language, created the MIS Experience, and paved the way for the new head offices of the ‘Paço das Artes’.

We have implemented the most extensive State program of support for independent cultural production in Brazil, and injected R$ 200 million into the audiovisual sector.

A great deal has been done, but there is a great deal more still to be done. In 2020, the investments will be even greater, and the results even better. This is the commitment we are reiterating through our involvement in the festival. This administration’s commitment to art, culture and the creative economy. In São Paulo, the cultural policy is one of our top priorities. It’s just a matter of good sense.
