During this period, the lives of Nilson (who falls ill) and his wife, Jane, and their only daughter, Liciane, are transformed, as well as the life of the director, who emotionally becomes a part of this circle as well. Important issues like the meaning of life are a part of the film’s texture itself, interspersed with excerpts from the classic “The Word” (Ordet) by Carl Dreyer, making aesthetic and existential connections evident.
