Perpera lived in the forest without contact with white people until 20 years of age. He was a powerful man, of the people Paiter Surui, until his contact with the white man in 1969. After being accused by an evangelical pastor of joining with the Devil, he is forced to become a doorman of the Evangelical church and to abandon his Shaman powers. However, this mission commanded by the intolerant pastor is put in check when someone in the village faced close death and the sensitivity of the Indian to the spirits of the forest is indispensable.
