In the city of Rio de Janeiro during the 1970s, the artistic collective Nuvem Cigana (Gipsy Cloud) was formed, gathering poets, graphic artists, photographers and musicians that implemented various forms of public expression. During a period of repression and dictatorship, these artists created spaces for staging and spoken poetry performances, editing mimeographed books, album covers, almanacs, and approaching the popular culture by forming samba groups and playing soccer. By erasing the boundaries between art and life, flirting with the utopia, they became a generation that opened paths before the dominance of the cultural industry.
