Bom Fim (lit. “Good End”) is a traditional neighbourhood in Porto Alegre, amassing such rich stories that it transcended from being a mere geographical location to becoming the epicenter of cultural transformations in the 60’s and 70’s. Bom Fim became the heart of bohemian life and political activism during the military dictatorship. While other resistance movements were simultaneously blossoming all over Brazil, Bom Fim’s bars, streets and theatres inspired and fueled the proliferation of local rock bands, urban cinema filmmakers, street theatre performers and television that asserted the “gaucho” identity, shaping the experiences of different generations.
